India has asked the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to pressure Pakistan over its charges that terrorists based in Pakistan had launched the attack in Mumbai which killed at least 170 people in November last year, said Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee Friday, Xinhua reported.
Mukherjee said he had apprised Ban Ki-moon on Thursday about the details of the Mumbai attacks, which he said were carried out by elements based in Pakistan.
"I had a detailed discussion (with Ban) in the context of the terror attack on Mumbai and the material which we have given to Pakistan and shared with the entire international community by sending letters to foreign ministers," he said in a brief statement to the media.
"I requested the UN Secretary General to look into those aspects and ensure that Pakistan fully implements its own commitments which it has given to India and the international community several times," Mukherjee said.
Mukherjee briefed Ban on how ten heavily armed Pakistani terrorists came from Karachi to Mumbai by the sea, said the official Press of India Trust.
India has "concrete evidence" to show that the attacks were planned in Pakistan and conducted by "elements based in that country", the report quoted him as saying.
Pakistan has denied any involvement in the Mumbai attack.
Ban arrived in India Thursday evening to attend a sustainable development conference held in New Delhi.
