A moderate quake with a magnitude of 5.0 jolted northern Japan, Xinhua reported Tuesday, referring to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The focus of the quake, which occurred at 9:13 p.m. local time (0013 GMT), was some 50 km under the sea off Fukushima Prefecture, the agency said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to properties. And no Tsunami warning was issued.
