Norway to provide financial support for Afghanistan

Norway will increase its support to Afghanistan by a total of 30 million U.S. dollars, according to reports reaching here from Oslo Saturday, Xinhua reported.
The money will be used to train the Afghan army and police with a view to enhancing security and stability in the war-torn country, the Norwegian government said in a statement.
It added that two-thirds of the sum would be contributed through the NATO Trust Fund for enlarging and training the Afghan army and the rest would be contributed to the Law and Order Trust Fund for the purpose of training Afghan police officers.
Norway contributes a total of 750 million kroner (about 115 million U.S. dollars) a year to Afghanistan in humanitarian assistance and development support, according to the Norwegian government
