Pakistan's security forces have secured a stronghold of militants in Swat valley in the country's northwest, the army said in a statement on Monday, Xinhua reported.
"After stiff resistance, the Security Forces have secured Maalam Jab, the stronghold of militant-terrorists in Swat," said the statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations.
Maalam Jab is located on the main line of communication that connects Swat Valley with Mansehra and it was used as a training center and logistic base by terrorists.
"In the last 24 hours, four Militants were killed in various areas of Swat during exchange of fire between miscreants and security forces, while eight terrorists were arrested and six security forces personnel were injured," said the statement.
The military operation is also progressing in other parts of North West Frontier Province.
The security forces initiated the offensive against militants at the end of April after Taliban militants refused to vacate Buner district as promised and challenged the writ of the government.
