Taliban raid kills 8 policemen in S. Afghanistan

Taliban militants killed eight policemen in an overnight assault on a police post in southern Afghan province of Helmand, said an official on Saturday, Xinhua reported.
  
Daud Ahmadi, the spokesman for provincial administration, told Xinhua a group of Taliban rebels late Friday night raided one police post in north of Lashkar Gha, capital of Helmand, killing eight policemen.
  
"Some policemen, found missing after the clash, were suspected of having links with Taliban," the official added.
  
However, Taliban militants, who have vowed to intensify attacks on the interests of government and international troops this year, have yet to make any comment.
  
Conflict-plagued Helmand have been the scene of main battle- field between Afghan army, backed by international troops, and Taliban insurgents as the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) announced launching massive clean-up operation there week ago.
