The USA and Pakistan should strengthen cooperation to solve problems in different spheres. Interaction in security is the most important issue, U.S Secretary of State Hilary Clinton said.
"The USA and Pakistani people must stand side by side in combat with extremism. It is our general fight," U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said at a joint press-conference with Pakistani foreign minister, Al-Jazeera TV channel reported.
She said that it is time to establish strong relations between countries.
U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Pakistan on October 28. Her visit will last three days.
Clinton also stressed that both countries cooperate in many spheres. Nevertheless, relations should be intensified. Additional opportunities for partnership should be also found.
"Our countries should strengthen relations not only at the inter-governmental level but in private sector, at the level of universities, religious institutes, civil societies, NGOs. Certainly, it is more important to establish relations between people. It brings the best results," Secretary of State said.
She also stressed that together with Pakistani foreign minister Mehmood Qureshi they agreed to launch and further intensify a dialogue between countries. Clinton promised to control it.
One of the most important issues is security, Clinton said.
"We want Pakistani people to know that they are not alone in this combat for peace and security. The USA will render necessary assistance to achieve your goals," Secretary of State said.
Clinton said that they will discuss closer cooperation in this issue between two countries with Qureshi.
"Terrorists and extremists can destroy but not build. We have advantage over them," she said.
Besides security, Clinton discussed education and economic problems of Pakistan. She stressed U.S wish to assist in solving urgent problems in these spheres.
