A middle-aged man stabbed to death six children and injured seven others at a primary school in the south-eastern Chinese province of Fujian early Tuesday, state media said.
The man attacked the children with a knife at the gate of the Nanping Experimental Primary School in Fujian's Fuzhou city at about 7 am (2300 GMT Monday), the government's Xinhua news agency reported, dpa reported.
Police had arrested the suspected attacker, who was believed to be mentally ill, the agency said.
The semi-official China News Service said some witnesses had described the suspect as a "blind person in his 40s."
A local hospital was treating the seven injured children, the reports said.
