The pilot of a plane that crashed in southern India early on Saturday was a Russian citizen, the Indian ÑCNN-IBN TV channel said, RIA Novosti reported.
His name has not yet been disclosed.
The second pilot was Indian.
The Boeing 737 plane coming from Dubai crashed at around 6:30am local time (1:00 GMT) at Mangalore airport. The plane reportedly overshot the runway while landing amid poor visibility and was engulfed in flames.
Some 160 people were killed in the accident.
