Pope Benedict XVI arrived late Thursday in London on the second leg of his four-day visit to Britain, the BBC reported.

The 83-year-old pontiff had spent the first day of his tour in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he was received by Queen Elizabeth II and ended the day with an open-air Mass, dpa reported.

On Friday, the pope will give a keynote address to political and civic leaders in Westminster Hall in London, while also touring the city in his Popemobile.

After a meeting with Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury and leader of the worldwide Anglican Church, the two church leaders will join in prayer at Westminster Abbey.
