Police have booked 22 people on charges of spreading false information through text messages or the Internet soon after North Korea shelled a South Korean island earlier this week, officials said Friday, Yonhap reported.
The accused individuals allegedly sent text messages, disguising the caller number as either the national defense ministry or draft offices, saying reserve forces had been called to duty after the North attacked Yeonpyeong Island near the tense Yellow Sea border on Tuesday afternoon, the National Police Agency (NPA) said.
