Unknown gunmen kidnap nine security guards in Afghanistan
Unknown gunmen kidnapped nine security personnel working for a road construction company in Kabul province, the Interior Ministry said Tuesday.
The gunmen attacked the guards Monday in the Surobi district, the ministry said without identifying the construction company or revealing the nationalities of the guards, DPA reported.
Poorly trained and equipped private security guards, who chiefly provide security for NATO convoys and bases and foreign-funded projects, often fall victim to Taliban attacks.
The Afghan government recently decided to dissolve all private security firms until early next year and transfer their responsibility to the Afghan national forces.
