Manchester United's hopes of staying on top of the English Premier League table this weekend were hit after their match at Blackpool on Saturday was postponed because of a frozen pitch, dpa reported.

The pitch at Blackpool's Bloomfield Road ground does not have undersoil heating and referee Peter Walton said on Friday he did not expect it to thaw in time.

United are two points ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal, both of whom are in action on Saturday.
