An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale has struck Indonesia's westernmost province of Aceh, but there were no immediate reports of injuries, PressTV reported.
The earthquake occurred at 07:01 a.m. local time (0001 GMT) on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said.
The earthquake was monitored 45 kilometers (28 miles) southwest of Meulaboh city and at the depth of 15 kilometers (9 miles) under seabed.
Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics did not release a tsunami warning.
The tremor hit close to an area where a devastating quake in December 2004 triggered the Asian tsunami.
The earthquake and the resulting tsunami affected many countries in Southeast Asia and beyond, including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, the Maldives, Somalia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Seychelles.
A total of 227,898 people died near the site, according to the US Geological Survey.
