Spanish Hollywood actress Penelope Cruz, 36, has given birth in the United States, Spanish media reports said Wednesday.
The gender not immediately known, DPA reported.
The baby was believed to have been born shortly before its father, Spanish actor Javier Bardem, 41, was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's film Biutiful.
Bardem was present at the birth at a Los Angeles exclusive clinic, the daily El Pais said. Cruz had reportedly travelled to the United States at Christmas to prepare for the birth.
Bardem's mother, Spanish actress Pilar Bardem declined to comment. Cruz' representative in Los Angeles said she did not have "any kind of information."
Cruz and Bardem married in the Bahamas in July 2010.
