Two more soldiers with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed Tuesday, bringing to five the number of military alliance casualties in a single day, ISAF said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Two International Security Assistance Force service members died following an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan yesterday,"the statement said.

However, the brief statement did not reveal the nationalities of the victims, saying it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities, Xinhua reported.

Troops mostly from United States have been stationed in eastern Afghanistan within the framework of ISAF to fight Taliban militants there.

Three other NATO soldiers were killed in similar but separate incidents in country's volatile eastern provinces also on Tuesday.

The latest military fatalities bring to over 100 the number of NATO soldiers who have been killed in militancy-hit Afghanistan since beginning this year.

Over 140,000 ISAF soldiers, with nearly 100,000 of them Americans, have been stationed in country.
