Long-time Cuban leader and former president Fidel Castro confirmed Tuesday that he will not be a member of the new Central Committee of the Communist Party, whose composition was to be announced later in the day, DPA reported.
Castro, 84, was the party's secretary general from its foundation in 1965 until 2006, when he handed the position and the presidency to his brother Raul for health reasons.
