US President Barack Obama has decided against releasing photos of Osama bin Laden's body, DPA quoted broadcasters NBC and CBS reported Wednesday.

Obama said in a taped interview for Sunday's edition of the CBS News programme 60 minutes that he will not release a photo of the fatally wounded bin Laden, CBS reported online. NBC News, citing a senior White House official, reported that Obama has rejected publishing the photos, DPA reported.

The White House has been under pressure to show visual evidence that bin Laden had been killed by US commandos in a raid in Pakistan.

White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters Tuesday that the issue was still under discussion and that the images were sensitive, "gruesome" and could be "inflammatory" in some parts of the world.
