The suspect arrested in connection with the shooting at a political youth camp and a bombing in Oslo is a Norwegian man, Justice Minister Knut Storberget said late Friday, dpa reported.
Storberget declined to offer further details about the man's identity during a news conference with Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.
The premier and justice minister promised that those guilty of the attacks would be put to justice, but declined to comment on possible motives.
The attacks claimed at least 17 people, with many more injured, after a bomb exploded in central Oslo followed shortly afterwards by a shooting spree at a political youth camp 10 kilometers outside the capital. Police Chief Sveinung Sponheim said late Friday that 10 dead were reported from the shooting on the island of Utoya.
