US reaffirm commitment to Israel security
US President Barack Obama spoke by phone Friday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to underline Washington's commitment to Israel's security, the White House said, dpa reported.
The discussion capped a week of renewed focus on Iran's nuclear threat to Israel at the UN General Assembly, where Netanyahu on Thursday warned that Iran will by next summer likely be ready to build a nuclear weapon.
"The two leaders underscored that they are in full agreement on the shared goal of preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon," the White House said in a statement about the conversation.
The White House also noted that Netanyahu had welcomed Obama's vow before the United Nations on Tuesday that the US would "do what we must to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
