Spanish public debt reaches 1.02 tln euros
Spanish public debt stood at 1.02 trillion euros (1.27 trillion U.S. dollars) in September, representing 97.1 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP), according to data unveiled on Friday by the Bank of Spain.
Debt increased by 10.513 billion euros in September from August, according to analysts, because of the auctions held by the Spanish treasury.
Spanish public debt has been increasing since the financial crisis started in the country. It represented 36.3 percent of Spain's GDP in 2007, surpassed the 1 trillion euros mark last May and it is expected to represent 97.6 percent of GDP by the end of this year.
