Pakistan, Turkey mull defence cooperation

National Defence Minister of Turkey, General Hulusi Akar met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Pakistan army’s general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Dec. 20, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

During the meeting views were exchanged on issues of mutual interest including bilateral defence and security cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey and overall regional security situation.

The visiting dignitary expressed Turkey’s deep appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts and sacrifices in war against terrorism.

Earlier on his arrival at GHQ, the Turkish Minister of National Defence laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.

Separately, Akar also met Minister of Defence Production Zubaida Jalal in Rawalpindi, and discussed issues of mutual interest and especially the avenues in defence cooperation.

Zubaida Jalal appreciated the policies of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on bringing about robust relations between Pakistan and Turkey.
