Officials agreed on countering cross-border drug trafficking and crime by sharing operational intelligence
The United States and India have agreed to establish a framework for bilteral cooperation to address the narcotics-related challenges in their countries.
The framework would be prepared by a sub-working group under the Counternarcotics Working Group (CNWG) between the two nations, the CNWG decided on Thursday during its second meeting convened virtually.
“The two sides identified areas for joint actions and resolved to continue their close cooperation on this important issue,” says a press release issued by the State Department on Friday.
They committed to the sharing of data, best practices, and lessons learned, including details regarding public health approaches to address substance use disorder and other consequences of drug use within the two countries.
