(RIA Novosti) - Russia wants to see the same rules for all participants in global energy markets, the foreign minister said Thursday.

Speaking after a meeting of G8 foreign ministers in Moscow, Sergei Lavrov said: "We fully support the idea of the necessity to be governed by unified rules of the game, and these rules should be defined by the market. This is 100% Russia's position," he said, reports Trend.

Lavrov said Russia would continue to be a reliable energy supplier, as it has been in the last 40 years.

"But we also want guarantees on stable demand [on the energy market]," he said. "We have violated no contracts not even by one gram nor a cubic millimeter. We would like this reliability to be appreciated and would like to have reliable consumers."
