(RIA Novosti) - Russian naval exercises in command skills and coordination of forces started Thursday off the Kamchatka peninsula in the Far East, a Russian Pacific Fleet spokesman said.

"More than 20 vessels of different types are taking part in the scheduled exercise," the spokesman said. "Over a dozen aircraft from Russia's joint command in the northeast will take to the skies."

According to the scenario, the war games will end with a massive strike by naval, submarine and air force units at a surface target, the spokesman said. He added that the Pacific Fleet's commander, Admiral Viktor Fyodorov, would oversee the exercise, reports Trend.
