( Itar-Tass ) - For the first time over the past year, the leaders of the two communities of Cyprus -- Greek Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos and Mehmet Ali Talat, leader of the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus -- are to meet here on Wednesday.

The two politicians are to discuss the future of the peace process on the island, specifically prospects for the implementation of the July 8, 2006, agreement, which deals with preparations for a new round of inter-community talks on reunification of Cyprus.

The meeting is to be held at the official residence of the UN Secretary-General's special representative on Cyprus on Wednesday afternoon.
