Three small explosions outside a
municipality building in Istanbul Thursday morning left three people slightly
injured as police investigated whether the explosions were an act of terrorism,
dpa reported, refer to Anadolu
news agency.
NTV television reported that four mortars were fired from within a cemetery
next to the building used by Usudar municipality on the Asian side of Istanbul. NTV said that the attackers appeared to have targeted a military garrison around
500 metres away.
Anti-terrorism police and bomb experts were investigating.
The attack comes after a bomb attack in the Istanbul suburb of Gungoren last month killed 17 people and injured more than 150. That attack was blamed on the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK). The PKK denied responsibility for that attack.
