Turkey launches direct flights to Kenya

Turkey has officially launched direct flights to Kenya, allowing Turkish national airline to start operating direct flights between Nairobi and Istanbul.
The three weekly flights operated by the Turkish National Carrier will officially start on Tuesday.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul left the country early Sunday after launching the direct flight.
Speaking during the launch on Saturday night, Kenyan Vice- President Kalonzo Musyoka said the launch of the Airline means Kenyan products, especially horticultural produce will be transported directly to Turkey and other markets of Eastern Europe, Xinhua reported.
He urged Kenyans and Turkish business people to take advantage of the direct flights to boost trade between the two countries. The Vice President expressed optimism that Kenya Airways will resume its flights from Nairobi to Istanbul which had been suspended.
Musyoka said the government wants to make Nairobi a hub of Africa continent adding that the cordial relation existing between the two countries will spur economic growth.
President Gul said the two flights will bring the two countries together particularly in communication and political spheres which he said was beneficial for trade.
He said Kenya had a lot of potential in the tourism sector owing to its unique experiences and different wildlife species.
The Turkish President said with increased bilateral visits the two countries will continue to strengthen their relations.
