Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani left Monday for a three-day visit to Turkey to hold talks with its leaders.

A spokesman for Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said Gilani on Tuesday would co-chair the inaugural session of the High Level Cooperation Council, a body set up last year to enhance long-term strategic cooperation between the two countries, with his counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogon, DPA reported.

Gilani was to also hold a meeting with President Abdullah Gul, who was scheduled to confer the civilian Republic Order award on Gilani in acknowledgement of his service for promoting bilateral relations.

An address to parliament was also on Gilani's agenda.
