Turkey will start producing engines for the domestic tank Altay in 2020, a source in the Turkish government told Trend.
After the start of the engine production, the mass production of tanks will be launched, according to the source.
The entire electronic system of the tank was developed by the Turkish defense company Aselsan.
After a mass production of the tank is established, it is planned to start exporting it to foreign countries.
Turkey’s first domestically-made tank, Altay, was tested in July 2013. According to the test results, the tank is suitable for mass production.
