After a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to be held Oct. 22, final steps will be taken regarding safety zone in northern Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the TRT World Forum, Trend reports citing Turkish media.

Erdogan also noted that there is very little time left for YPG/PYD terrorists to leave northern Syria, where Turkey will create the safety zone.

The Turkish president noted that his visit to Russia will take place Oct. 22.

On Oct. 9, Erdogan announced the beginning of a new military operation in Syria, called "Peace Spring".

On Oct. 17, Ankara agreed with Washington to suspend the Operation Peace Spring in Syria's north for 120 hours, so that during this time the YPG/PYD detachments would leave northern Syria.

On Oct. 18, the agreement on the 120-hour cessation of military operations in Syria's north by the Turkish Armed Forces entered into force.
