Volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish Aliaga port in 1H2020 disclosed

The volume of cargo transshipment via the Turkish Aliaga port in Izmir province surpassed 30.1 million tons from January through June 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on August 3.

In the reporting period, more than 1.1 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flags, and over 29 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, 43,441 tons of cargo were transited via the Aliaga port, noted the ministry.

Transshipment of goods through Turkish ports made up 179.6 million tons in the first six months of 2020.

During the reporting period, 14.3 million tons were handled by the ships flying the Turkish flag.

The volume of cargo transshipment via Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to over 6.9 million tons, while the cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries stood at nearly 158.3 million tons from January through June 2020.

Meanwhile, 36.1 million tons of cargo were transited through Turkish ports, the ministry said.

In June this year, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey made up slightly over 28.1 million tons.

In the reporting month, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag made up 2.4 million tons, by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries exceeded 24.6 million tons.

According to the ministry, more than 5.4 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in June 2020.
