Cargo transshipment via Turkey's Iskenderun port for six months revealed

More than 25.9 million tons of cargo were shipped via Turkey’s Iskenderun port from January through June 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

In the first half of 2020, 816,366 tons of cargo were transported through Iskenderun port by ships flying the Turkish flag, while ships flying the flags of other countries transported over 25 million tons of cargo.

As reported, 673,459 tons of goods were handled in transit via the mentioned port over the reporting period.

In 1H2020, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports amounted to 179.6 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 14.3 million tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 6.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 158.3 million tons.

Over 36.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the ports of Turkey during the first six months of this year.

In June 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 28.1 million tons. At the same time, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.4 million tons.

The volume of transshipment of goods through the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags exceeded 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – to 24.6 million tons.

During the reporting month, 5.4 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey.
