The cargo turnover at Turkish Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport made up 98,632 tons from January through June 2021, increasing by 16 percent compared to the same period of last year, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on July 29.
According to the ministry, during the reporting period, cargo turnover on domestic flights via the airport reached 50,563 tons (increase of 51 percent compared to the period from January through June 2020) while on international flights – 47,969 tons (decrease of 7 percent).
Passenger traffic at the airport made up 8.8 million, which is by 17 percent more than during the period from January through June 2020. Some 6.2 million passengers were served on domestic flights (30-percent increase), while 2.6 million passengers - on international flights (five percent decrease).
The ministry also stressed that the number of flights was 69,371 from January through June 2021, which is by 31 percent more than in the same period of last year.
Meanwhile, 45,244 domestic flights (increase by 40 percent) and 24,127 - international flights (increase by 17 percent) were made.
Some 1.3 million cargo and 40.2 million passengers were transported through all Turkish airports from January through June 2021, the ministry said.
