Turkey discloses volume of cargo shipment via its ports from Singapore for 8M2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct.19

A total of over 2.2 million tons of cargo from Singapore were transshipped via the Turkish ports in the first eight months of 2021, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Oct.19.

According to the ministry, during the specified period, ships flying the flag of Turkey delivered 50,000 tons of Singaporean cargo, and ships flying the flags of other countries – more than two million tons to Turkish ports.

Besides, the volume of cargo delivered to the ports by ships flying the flag of Singapore amounted to 203,497 tons.

Meanwhile, 497,367 tons of cargo from the country were transited through the Turkish ports, added the ministry.

Totally, the ports of Turkey handled 253.4 million tons of cargo from January through August 2021.

During this period, cargo transportation by ships flying the flag of Turkey through domestic ports amounted to 20.1 million tons.

"At the same time, cargo transportation through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of other countries amounted to 233.2 million tons," the ministry said.

In addition, during the specified period, Turkish ports handled 50.2 million tons of cargo in transit, said the ministry.

Reportedly, in August 2021, the ports of Turkey as a whole handled 33.9 million tons of goods.

In the 8th month of this year, cargo transportation through domestic ports by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.57 million tons, while by ships flying the flags of other countries – 31.3 million tons. In this month Turkish ports handled 6.27 million tons of transit cargo.
