The Turkish ports handled 642,278 tons of cargo from Albania in 2021, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
According to the ministry, last year, ships flying the Turkish flag delivered 11,201 tons of cargo from Albania to domestic ports, and ships flying the flags of other countries - 525,887 tons.
At the same time, ships flying the Albanian flag delivered 105,190 tons of cargo to Turkish ports, and 45,036 tons of cargo from Albania were transited through the ports.
Overall, Turkey's ports handled more than 386.3 million tons of cargo last year.
Meanwhile, freight traffic by vessels under the Turkish flag through domestic ports exceeded 29.9 million tons.
Cargo transportation via the ports of Turkey by ships under the flags of other countries last year totaled 356.3 million tons.
Besides, Turkish ports transited over 78 million tons of cargo.
In December 2021, Turkish ports handled more than 35.4 million tons of cargo.
Meanwhile, transshipment of goods through ports under the Turkish flag reached 2.5 million tons, and under the flags of other countries – 32.8 million tons. In the same month, Turkish ports handled 7.2 million tons of transit cargo.
