Turkey unveils cargo transshipment via Ambarli port for 1Q2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 28. The Turkish port of Ambarli handled 4.6 million tons of cargo in the first quarter of 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

According to the ministry, ships under the Turkish flag delivered 709,608 tons of freight via Ambarli port, and ships flying the flags of other countries – 3.9 million tons.

From January through March 2022, the port of Ambarli transshipped 992,175 tons of transit cargo, said the ministry.

Turkey's ports handled 24.18 million tons of cargo in March 2022.

Ships under the Turkish flag delivered 2.28 million tons of freight through domestic ports whilst ships flying the flags of other countries – 31.89 million tons.

In addition, Turkish ports transshipped 6.67 million tons of transit cargo in March 2022.

According to the ministry, Turkish ports handled 98.6 million tons of cargo from January through March 2022. In the reporting period, cargo transportation by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 6.9 million tons, while freight traffic by ships under the flags of other countries reached 91.68 million tons.

From January through March 2022, Turkish ports delivered 20.57 million tons of transit cargo.

Totally, Turkey transported 386.39 million tons of cargo in 2021 via its ports.

During the reporting period, freight transportation by ships under the flag of Turkey via domestic ports amounted to 29.9 million tons, whereas the cargo traffic by other countries' vessels reached 356.39 million tons.

Furthermore, Turkish ports transshipped 78 million tons of transit cargo in 2021.
