Türkiye discloses cargo handling from Iran via local ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. The Turkish ports transshipped over 50,734 tons of cargo from Iran in the first five months of 2022, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, ships flying the flag of Türkiye didn't transport cargo from Iran, while ships under the flags of other countries delivered 45,100 tons of cargo to the ports.

During this time, 5,733 tons of freight were received by Turkish ports from the Iranian-flagged vessels. From January through May 2022, transit cargo from Iran was not delivered to Turkish ports.

In May 2022, the ports of Türkiye received 33.4 million tons of cargo, out of which 2.35 million tons were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag, and 31.07 million tons – by ships under a foreign flag.

In the reporting month, local ports handled 7.5 million tons of transit cargo.

From January through May 2022, Turkish ports handled 164.29 million tons of cargo. Out of the total number 11.4 million tons were delivered by ships under the Turkish flag, and 152.8 million tons were transshipped by ships flying foreign flags.

During this period, Turkish ports handled 35.28 million tons of transit cargo.
