BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. Turkish port of Aliaga handled 45.8 million tons of cargo from January through August 2022, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told Turkic World, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, 2.19 million tons of cargo was transported by ships under the flag of Türkiye through the port of Aliaga, and 43.6 million tons by ships under the flags of other countries.
"Turkish port of Aliaga handled 278,603 tons of transit cargo from January through August 2022," the ministry added.
Turkish ports totally handled 264.6 million tons of cargo in the first eight months of 2022.
Cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Türkiye through local ports in the specified period amounted to 18.9 million tons, and by ships under the flags of other countries – 245.69 million tons.
Meanwhile, Turkish ports handled 54 million tons of transit cargo.
