"Azerkosmos" OJSC signed a contract with the Afghan Payvastun (APMC) media and communications company for public broadcasting of the Batur TV channel through the "Azerspace-1", according to the company's report.

Batur TV is the first Afghan TV channel, which will be broadcasted through the national satellite of Azerbaijan.

The signing of this agreement is of great importance in terms of entrance of "Azerkosmos" in the Afghan television market. APMC President Massoud Ameri praised the professionalism shown by the "Azerkosmos" team in preparation for the signing of the contract at the signing ceremony.

APMC began working with "Azerkosmos" during the presidential elections held in Afghanistan in 2014. Satisfied with the cooperation, the company has decided to sign a long term contract.

Ameri discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of satellite communications between Afghanistan and Azerbaijan with the representatives of "Azerkosmos", broadcasting of other Afghan channels via "Azərspace-1" satellite.

"Azerkosmos" OJSC is the sole satellite operator in the South Caucasus region. The company provides satellite resources for rendering telecommunication services and digital broadcasting, VSAT network.

Azerbaijan launched the first telecommunications satellite Azerspace-1 on February 8, 2013. The satellite is located at the orbital position of 46 degrees east longitude. Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and North Africa are included in the service area of Azerspace/Africasat-1a.
