A woman player of national Iranian youth volleyball team from Khorasan Province says that while she holds hijab, has also won 20 different medals in sport competitions, and that she is happy for that, Mehr reported.

Zahra Akbari told the agency that they had been loudly applauded by the spectators in the sport complex for Iranians hijab, when National Iranian Female Volleyball team participated in Asian competitions in Thailand this year.

She also added that she and all Iranian players were surprised by the friendly reception by other teams such as South Korea, Thailand, and Turkmenistan.

"Our appearance with having hijab was subject of curiosity and interest for people and other teams, and by few days, other players received us very friendly and respected us," she said.

She also denied the claims by some individuals that hijab hindered the sport activities of women athletes.

"if any woman wants social and sportive activity, they can have their hijab and do their activity at the same time," she said.

National Iranian player from Khorasan Province also believe hijab as obstacle for activity a pretext for covering the lack of will devised by individuals.

She added that as a small member of sport society, she had won 20 different regional and national medals while holding her hijab, and that she felt happy for that.
