Tehran, Iran, December 10

The Iranian government is making serious effort to realize one of the rights of prisoners in the country, Iranian president’s special aide for citizenship rights Elham Aminzadeh said.

During talks with Minister of Cooperative, Labor, and Social Welfare Ali Rabiee, it was agreed to insure 200,000 inmates, she told Mehr news agency December 10.

She noted that the plan is awaiting financial resources and will be implemented once the budget is allocated.

She expressed pity that most of the time when someone is imprisoned, their insurance policies are suspended and their families would have to bear the brunt of it.

Aminzadeh said serious effort is being made to implement the agreement in some two months.
