Sobh e Sadeq weekly journal, which belongs to Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG or Sepah), published an article about Turkey's approach to Syria today.
Sobh e Sadeq stressed it this article that Iran prefers Syria over Turkey, because of special common interests between Damascus and Tehran.
"Iran would protect and choose Syria, not Turkey, if Ankara continues to aid Syrian demonstrators and oppositions, because of Tehran strategic goals and ideological views," IRGC noted.
The article emphasized that Bashar Assad's government would stay in power despite the West and Turkey's forecasts and Ankara had a wrong view about the end of riots in Syria. "Turkey has step-by-step taken a firm approach against Assad regime by holding conferences for Syrian opposition in Turkey and setting up camps for Syrian refugees," IRGC press organ reported.
The U.S. has repeatedly accused Iran for helping the Syrian government to quell anti-government protests and put some Iranian officials including IRGC's two high commanders in black list for participating in crackdowns on demonstrators in Syria.
Ongoing demonstrations in Syria started in January. Syrian security forces have killed more than 1,300 protesters during the riots.
