Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov appoints the current Deputy Chairman of the Avaza National Tourist Zone Committee, Emir Patjanov, as acting chairman of the committee.
The former head Taymammed Shiraliyev was dismissed due his inability to "cope with the assigned duties."
Berdimuhammadov has recently "made some remarks on the prepared projects for the further development of the international seaside resort on the Caspian coast and instructed that they be improved ".
The total cost of previously implemented projects is over $1.5 billion. Local and foreign companies operating here and investors investing in the construction of health centers and social and economic facilities, hotel business, and services are provided with substantial tax and customs benefits.
At one of the meetings Berdimuhammadov stressed that Avaza's competitive advantages enabling him to implement this major investment project include the excellent climatic conditions, a key geographic location, and high potential to render tourist and health-improving services.
"The time is coming when our tourism zone will seriously compete with global tourist brands, making Turkmenistan among the most competitive tourism states", he stressed.
A new airport, a power station, desalination and water treatment plants have already been built in Avaza. A number of sanatoria facilities have been recently commissioned. Water parks, yacht clubs, an oceanarium, indoor ski complex, cycle track, and casino-city will be constructed as part of the second stage of Avaza development.
