General says US has got stuck in Middle East

Senior advisor to the Supreme Leader said here in a gathering on Saturday evening that the US policy in Afghanistan and Iraq has not been successful and US has got stuck in the Middle East, IRNA reported.

Major General Seyed Yahya Rahim Safavi predicted that the US will face a defeat bigger than that in Vietnam in Afghanistan adding that US is stranded in Afghanistan.

Concerning US presence in Iraq, the general said that the US is trying to increase oil production in Iraq to 10 million barrels per day, the same as Saudi Arabia's production, by signing numerous contracts with that country and to disrupt OPEC oil quota.

Elsewhere in his speech, Rahim Safavi said that the US is introducing Iran to the regional countries as an enemy to sell its military equipment to them.
He said the weapons which the US has sold to the regional countries will be used one day against its own interests in the region.

Underlining the necessity of taking appropriate decision in confrontation with sanctions against Iran, the general said that a coalition which was formed during imposed war against Iran by a number of countries is forming again, now.

The supreme leader advisor said that the nature of power is changing now and some people believe that nature of power is moving towards cultural and civilizational power.

Expounding on different viewpoints about power, Rahim Safavi said that one of the most important existing classifications on the world powers is emergence of a power named "Islamic World" with one billion and six hundred million population which has control on 75 percent of the world energy and 54 percent of the world gas.
