Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani has appointed Reza Faraji Dana as his advisor for scientific and educational affairs, Iran's ISNA news agency reported.

Faraji Dana, who served as Minister of Science, Research and Technology for nine months, is the first Rouhani appointment to be dismissed by Iranian parliament.

After Faraji Dana responded to lawmakers' questions during the impeachment session,

145 MPs voted in favor of Faraji Dana's dismissal, 110 against, and 15 abstained, according to Iran's official IRNA news agency,

In his appointment letter to Faraji Dana, Rouhani praised the dismissed minister for his "generous efforts and valuable works" during the time he served as minister.

On October 27, 2013, parliament granted a vote of confidence to Faraji-Dana after the lawmakers refused to approve the qualifications of Rouhani's initial nominee for the position.
