Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 18

United States is deeply concerned about the unresolved conflicts in the region, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia Evelyn N. Farkas said at a press conference in Baku Sept.18.
Unfortunately, all these conflicts have a common trait: the use of force and diplomacy, which still has no effect, she said.
She went on to add that the US constantly monitors the situation. The conflict in Syria and the flow of refugees once again shows that the US must continue its work for the people even more efficiently, Farkas said.
Azerbaijan remains a strategic partner of the United States, and the US is proud of bilateral cooperation in the field of security for over 20 years, she said.
Azerbaijan became the first country to support the United States after the events of September 11, and the United States will never forget this, according to Farkas.
Azerbaijan is also cooperating with the United States in the prevention of terrorist financing, she said.
Azerbaijan and the United States continue to cooperate extensively in order to ensure security in Afghanistan, according to Farkas.
