Turkey recognizes two more groups as terrorist organizations

The 'Ansar al-Sharia', operating in Tunisia and 'Abdullah Azzam Brigades', operating in Lebanon and Syria have been officially recognized as terrorist organizations by Turkey, Turkey's Resmi Gazete newspaper reported on Oct.1.

Thus, the number of organizations officially recognized as terrorist organizations by Turkey reached 15.

Turkey listed the Jabhat al-Nusra as a terrorist organization on June 3.

Jabhat al-Nusra, also known as Al-Nusra Front, is a terrorist organization created on January 23, 2012 during military operations between Syrian government forces and the opposition.

This organization denies its affiliation to the international terrorist organization al-Qaeda.

Jabhat al-Nusra claimed responsibility for 57 of 70 suicide attacks committed since the beginning of the conflict in Syria until early June 2013.

It was listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. in December 2012, the UN - in May 2013, Australia - in June 2013, and the UK in July 2013.
