Azerbaijani ministerial departments' revenues hit 273.4 million manat

As of the first nine months, associations and enterprises under the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry received revenues worth $273.4 million manat, or 10.3 percent more than in the same period of last year, the ministry said today.

These organizations paid 31.5 million manat to the state budget in January-September, and 11.6 million manat to the State Social Protection Fund.

ICT sector and postal services income increased by 18.2 percent to 1,068.3 billion manat for the first nine months compared to the same period of last year.

The pace of growth in the ICT sector of the republic for the last period was 17.8 percent, the telecommunications sector - 19.2 percent, IT sector - 3.8 percent, and the postal sector - 14.2 percent compared to 2011.

According to ministry statistics, at present, the total number of phones, is on average 18.6 units per 100 people across the country, and the number of computers is 20 units per 100 people.

The penetration rate of the Internet is 65 percent, and mobile communication is 110 percent. More than 30 percent are broadband connections.

The official exchange rate is 0.7849 AZN/USD on Nov. 2.
