The key suppliers of digital television content will be determined in Azerbaijan in 2013, a source close to the project told Trend on Wednesday.
At present negotiations are underway and B & BTV Communications, Azerfon and the Teleradio Production Association are all being considered as key operators. Other firms may also appear.
The commercial and social aspects of the digital TV deployment project are an important aspect in this issue.
B & BTV Communications claims to be the company that will be engaged in the formation of a commercial network of digital broadcasting throughout the country.
The production association Teleradio will deal with the development of the social component of the project. The association has the most extensive technical infrastructure for the retransmission of digital content throughout the country.
"In fact, providers of services namely two operators having the digital standard DVB-T must be determined," a source said. "The first one must deal with a commercial component, the other is social. The task is difficult. A significant player with a sound, concrete proposal must come forward. The situation is not entirely clear. It is unknown which company will deal with this important task."
