Azerbaijan reduced import of goods from Georgia by 2.3 times to $76.75 million in January-August 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, said Georgia’s National Statistics Office (GeoStat) in a report.
The report says that Azerbaijan’s share in Georgian export is 5.8 percent. The country was a leader in import of goods from Georgia for a long time.
Azerbaijan ranked sixth in that index as of eight months.
For comparison: Azerbaijan was a leader in import of goods from Georgia ($173.2 million) in January-August 2015.
The country mainly imports pipes, iron alloys and others commodities from Georgia.
Major part of goods is exported to Turkey from Georgia - $134.4 million (10.2 percent). Russia with almost $118.2 million (9 percent) and China with $117.68 million (9 percent) follow Turkey.
Trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan amounted to $361.8 million in January-August 2016.
Specific weight of Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with Georgia is 4.9 percent of the country’s total foreign trade operations.
